Situation

Upon joining, there was training available to the team but really no strategy behind the overall training. This lack of clarity and direction lead to trainings that were not tied to our Company's strategy, or even the strategy within the function requesting the training. Our trainings did not speak a common language. They did not address the overall developmental need, but rather were more of a filler for an immediate situation. Finally, we did not measure the success of our programs.

Task/Activity

Upon restructuring the team, I was able to create efficiencies and structure the team to into 4 buckets:
  • Program Creation/Management
    Team tasked with building our coaching muscle and overseeing assessments with programs that were created and delivered in-house by the Talent Development team (all leadership programs).
  • Execution/Delivery/Culture of Continuous Learning
  • CoachingSupport
  • Data/Analytics/Innovation/Strategy
Offered programs that were curated and led in partnership with functional experts, created by Talent Development. Created self-paced learning through our partnership with LinkedIn Learning. Provided programs through educational institutions, in our partnership with Guild, that taught foundational programs, certificate/bootcamp programs, and degreed programs (Bachelors and Masters).

Results

This allowed the Company to create a curated, well thought, catalog of programs and learning/development opportunities for employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Mid-Level leaders were promoted at a higher rate
  • Had a roadmap to upskill frontline employees on an ongoing basis
